Grahics Interchange Format. The compressed graphics format originally developed by CompuServe. Because of the small file size, it became one of the two major graphics formats on the World Wide Web.
A menu based directory system application. This was the way to find stuff on the Internet before search engines became popular.
Graphical User Interface. A program application or system that uses graphics and icons to represent choices, parts of programs, or entire applications. For example, the Windows is a GUI operating systems whose programs are represented by small graphic (called icons). Like the Wordprocessor program may have a graphic of a piece of paper and a pen.
