Unix

A command line/character based operating system. It is like DOS on steroids. Usually people label a common set of operating systems based on Unix as "unix" operating systems -- like Lunix, Irix, Solaris, BSD, and others.

Upload

Transferring a file from your computer (local computer) to a remote computer. People that maintain web sites hosted on remote computers use special software (FTP client) to upload files. Most people do more downloading (retreiving files) than uploading.

URL

Universal Resource Locator. This is the "address" to anything on the Internet. The URL can specify the address of a web page, file to download, newsgroup, e-mail address, and other services of the Internet.

User Address

A remote user's IP Address or domain name.

User Session

A collection of all hits and page views related to a single user's visit to a web site. This can give a better count of the number of actual people visiting a web site.
