Posting Personal Web Pages on AlaNet

Step 3

Connect to AlaNet via FTP


The first thing you will notice is the ftp> prompt. This lets you know you are in the FTP client on Windows 95.


Type open downtown.ala.net and then press the enter key. (note the space between open and downtown).


Wait for it to connect to the server and prompt you for your user name. Type your AlaNet user name when the User (downtown.ala.net): prompt appears


Type your AlaNet password when the Password: prompt appears. Wait for the ftp> prompt to appear.

After these steps, you will be logged in via FTP and your screen should look something like the picture above.
